Kimberlie Dykeman Spotlighted in Podium Series on USNews.com Featured Site
Last December, GL Hoffman, US News and World contributor and founder of JobDig became a new fan of fellow author Kimberlie Dykeman. He broadcasted her “Career Tips from My Dad” chapter submission for his upcoming book “Dig Your Job” across the web into media outlets cross country and listed Dykeman as an expert on the JobDig site for his global audience. Today, on the Share the Podium series on “What Would Dad Say”, Hoffman has called upon Dykeman again to uplift the masses dealing with the Titanic-ed economy, job disenchantment, and joblessness across the country. In response, the Queen of SOAPBOX® Motivation has written a special SOAPBOX® vignette to remind folks that in surviving the funk, we must always hold true to our own identities. In the guest piece, entitled Walking In Another’s Shoes Leaves No Tracks , she smacks us with the plausible reality that we may have caused some of our own current situations by becoming just a number, just a spoke, just a shadow.
“He who walks in another’s tracks leaves no footprints.” by Joan Brannon
Admit it. You’ve been a follower of someone at some point in your life. Be it sibling, spouse, teacher, boss, best friend…even leader or icon. And with high hopes, you’ve perhaps fallen into path out of loyalty or fear, ignorance or insecurity -for want or need of recognition or trade secrets, first dibs or fast track, attention or acceptance.
So, how has the walk in the shadows really served you? More importantly, though, are you still trying to gather benefits at the cost of erasing yourself? Think about how the mimicry, modeling and mistaking has even harmed you. At some point, you may walk nameless to yourself and truly unidentifiable to all others.
Folks, don’t get blurred behind someone’s shadow; after all, who knows what may really lurk within it, the bad included. Instead choose to create your own path. Find you. Honor you. Stomp the earth and leave your mark and let ‘em know your name!
